Institute of Electronics And Telecommunication Engineers (IETE) Exam Details

The Institute of Electronics And Telecommunication Engineers (IETE) is the national apex body of Electronics and Telecommunication, Computer and IT Professionals. IETE conducts three examinations for various courses at Graduate, Diploma and Post-graduate level. AMIETE is the graduate level exam while DIPIETE is the diploma level exam of IETE. IETE also conducts postgraduate level course such as ALCCS (Advanced Level Course in Computer Science).

Computer Science
Eligibility
For different level of courses there are separate eligibility conditions as mentioned below:
Eligibility for AMIETE
  • Candidate should have passed 10+2 examination with Physics & Mathematics OR should have passed any 3 year Diploma course in Engineering / Technology covering Mathematics and Physics to 10+2 level and working experience in relevant field or studying for higher qualification with physics/electrical/electronics/computer.
  • Candidates should not be less than 16/18 years of age for 10+2/ Diploma holders respectively.
Eligibility for DIPIETE
  • Candidates should have passed 10th or equivalent examination with General Science and working experience in relevant field or studying for higher qualification with Physics/Mathematics/Engineering/Computer.
  • Candidates should not be less than 14 years of age.
Eligibility for ALCCS
  • Any engineering graduate OR Masters in Mathematics/ Mathematical Sciences / Economic Sciences / Bio Sciences / Physical Sciences / Computer Science / Computer Applications.
Examination Pattern
Different pattern of examinations are designed for AMIETE, DIPIETE and ALCCS test.
AMIETE
Examinations are conducted twice a year, in June and December respectively. Examination is divided in two Sections with 20 theory papers and one project work. Each Section is divided in two parts viz. Part-I and Part-II. The distribution of subjects is as under:
  • Section A
1. Part-I: Six subjects (all compulsory)
2. Part-II: Five subjects (all compulsory)
  • Section B
1. Part -I: Five subjects (all compulsory)
2. Part -II: Four subjects (2 compulsory +2 electives)
  • Project Work (Compulsory)
DIPIETE
Examinations are conducted twice a year, in June and December respectively. DIPIETE examination is divided in two Sections with 15 theory papers, project work and practical examination. Each Section is divided in two parts viz. Part-I and Part-II. The distribution of subjects is as under:
  • Section A
1. Part-I: Four subjects (all compulsory)
2. Part-II: Four subjects (all compulsory)
  • Section B
1. Part -I: Four subjects (all compulsory)
2. Part -II: Three subjects (1 compulsory +2 electives)
  • Project Work (Compulsory)
  • Practical Examination (Compulsory)
