The All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE 2012) is an examination organized by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) for admission to B.E./B.Tech and B.Arch./B. Planning courses in various national level institutes like NITs, IITs, Deemed Universities, Private, Government Funded institutions in India. It’s a national level entrance examination that was incepted in the year 2002 only. It enables students to get admission in some of the best colleges offering undergraduate degree programs in architecture and engineering courses. Colleges like 16 of the IITs and NITs accept scores of AIEEE Exam.
AIEEE Exam is conducted generally in the month of April for admission into top engineering colleges in India and the basic eligibility is a pass in 12th class. The examination is conducted on the last Sunday of April and thus those who are aspiring for AIEEE 2012 would be appearing on the same day for exam. The results would be announced around the first week of the month of June 2012 for these candidates. They would be ranked on the state as well as all- India basis and ranks would be given to them accordingly. Students who want to take bachelor’s of engineering or technology have to appear only for paper one. However, the architecture and planning students have to appear for paper 2. Once the scores are out for AIEEE Exam, the counseling is done by the Central Counseling Board.

AIEEE 2012 Eligibility Criteria:-

    * For AIEEE a candidate needs to pass in Class 12th with Physics and Mathematics is compulsory subjects & at least one of the subjects among Chemistry, Biotechnology, Computer Science or Biology.
    * And for Architecture Courses Mathematics is compulsory subjects  in class 12th with at least 50% marks aggregate.

Forms will be available in designated branches of Syndicate Bank, CBSE Regional Office and Selected Institutes AIEEE 2012 exam dates:- AIEEE 2012 will be held from 29th April (Sunday) till 26th May 2012.

Engineering Exams

The engineering entrance exams are considered, as significant, especially in India, because most of the students in the country aim for engineering studies, immediately after their 12^th standards.
Engineering Entrance Exams
It would be evitable for anyone, who is watching the television, because people could see the students in the TV, especially the rank holders would be portraying themselves either as doctors, or as engineers and the engineering studies would top the list. And India is known for its IITs and its strong engineering research facilities. Each and every IIT has its own research centre facilitating most of the engineering developments and infrastructure in the country. Moreover to ease the engineering admissions in the country, the government of India has established three entrance exam schemes, such as, AIEEE, JEE and SLEEE. The AIEEE and the JEE are conducted as a national level entrance exams for engineering admissions and the SLEEE are conducted as the state level entrance exams. Thus, the initiative done by the government in order to ease the admission procedures and to guide the students is really appreciable!
All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE)
It comprises of two different types of question papers, one consisting of questions from the subjects, like, math, and physics, and chemistry. This is an objective type question paper with equal marks to each three subjects. The second type question paper comprises of questions from mathematics, engineering drawing and it also consists of aptitude type questions. Thus, the first type of question paper is meant for B.E. and B.Tech degree admissions and the second type question paper is meant for the B.Arch and B.Planning degree admissions. The AIEEE would award the students at national level via a national rank and would also rank the students based on the state level via a state rank. It is been accepted by many institutions that are offering the undergraduate engineering and architecture degree courses, majorly including the 30 honorable National Institutes of Technology (NITs). The 50% of the seats in the NITs would be filled up by the deserving candidates from the AIEEE entrance examinations. Hence, the candidates who appeared for the AIEEE exams could apply to many engineering institutions across the country.
Joint Entrance Examination (JEE)
It is popularly called as the Indian Institute of Technology Joint Entrance Examination (IIT-JEE) and it is conducted for the engineering admissions in the seventeen IITs in India. The current question pattern comprises of two objective type question papers, and each of the question papers consists of questions form subjects like, math, physics, and chemistry. The questions are designed with an objective to test the comprehensive, reasoning and analytical skills of the candidates.
State Level Engineering Entrance Examination (SLEEE)
Each state conducts its own entrance examination for the engineering admissions within the state. Further the standard and quality of the SLEEE also sticks to the AIEEE standards and procedures. Since, the state level entrance examination is designed and developed according to the specific state syllabus and curriculum, it adheres to the boundary of syllabus, thus easing the admission procedures. This further helps the students to concentrate better on their subjects.

Entrance test for University of Pune’s MTech-PhD on July 31

Pune: The University of Pune’s maiden national-level entrance exam for the country’s first of its kind four-year integrated MTech-PhD course for engineering and science graduates will be held on July 31. Candidates clearing this test will be interviewed on August 1 for final selection. The university has released the admission schedule for this unique course, which aims at drawing fresh graduates from engineering and basic sciences, besides working professionals, to pursue industry-relevant and application-oriented research, leading to a dual degree of MTech and PhD.

Pune varsity vice-chancellor Raghunath Shevgaonkar, who is currently on an overseas tour, mooted the integrated course a year back. The course has been positioned as a unique industry-academia partnership model, capable of delivering concrete outcome vis-à-vis industry specific research, patenting of research and generation of intellectual property (IP), which can be jointly owned by the university, the sponsoring industry, the researcher and his/ her guide.

Over the last one year, the UoP initiated several steps, including creation of an independent faculty of technology; appointment of dean for the new faculty; formation of four boards of studies for the specified areas; designing of course curriculum, structure and syllabi, etc. It has committed Rs 10 crore for establishing a technology department building and central R&D facility. Students with minimum 60% in engineering degree or masters degree in science (55% for SC/ ST), will be eligible for the new course. Eligibility

Any Higher Degree of BITS or its equivalent with a minimum of 60% aggregate in the qualifying examination.

Any applicant with qualification equivalent to Integrated first degree of BITS will be first examined for suitability to one of the higher degree programmes of the Institute. Such candidates may first be admitted to the M.E./M.Phil. programmes offered by the Institute subject to the eligibility conditions.

Shortlisted candidates will be called for a written test/interview for selections. Selected candidates will be given financial assistance in the form of either a fellowship of any government agency or of the Institute, project or teaching assistantship, full/partial tuition waiver or a combination of these.

Such selected candidates will be required to participate in teaching and any other developmental activities of the Institute under the guidance of a mentor.

Industries and R & D Organizations collaborating with BITS can sponsor candidates to work for Ph.D under the Ph.D Aspirants Scheme.

Under this Scheme such Employed professionals working in Industries and R&D Organizations having long experience and proven competence aspiring for Ph.D. programme will be considered and will be allowed to pursue their research at their own locations of work.

Eligibility for Ph.D:

Application are invited from eligible candidates of Rajasthan domicile including the wards of Kashmiri Migrants for the registration of Rajasthan Pre Engineering Test - 2011 for admission to first year of undergraduate programmes leading to Bachelor’s degree in different disciplines of Engineering (B.Tech. / B.E.) in various government aided and Private unaided technical institutions of Rajasthan (except BITS Pilani, MNIT Jaipur and other Deemed & Private Universities) for the session 2011-2012.

Eligibility

1) The minimum academic qualification for admission to B.Tech./B.E. program in Rajasthan is a pass with at least 50% marks (45% marks in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST of Rajasthan state) in the subjects combination as given below taken together, in the final examination of 10+2 (Class XII) of Board of Secondary Education, Rajasthan or any other examination recognized equivalent thereto by the Board of Secondary Education, Rajasthan.

2) Subject combination required in the qualifying examination for admission to B.Tech. / B.E course shall be as under:

B.Tech. / B.E.: Compulsory Subjects – Physics and Mathematics
Any one of the Optional Subjects – Chemistry, Biotechnology, Computer Science, Biology

Candidates appearing in the qualifying examination (10+2) in 2011 may also apply.

AGE LIMIT:
Only those candidates whose date of birth falls on or after October 01, 1986 are eligible. However, in the case of Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Physically Handicapped (PH) candidates, upper age limit is relaxed by 5 years, i.e. SC, ST and PH candidates who were born on or after October 01, 1981 are eligible. Date of birth as recorded in the Secondary Education marksheet / certificate only will be taken as authentic.
