New Version of Skype for iPhone Announced
Luxembourg -- Skype today announced the new version of its iPhone application that brings video calling to millions of mobile users around the globe over both 3G and WiFi networks. Available to download from the Apple App Store today, the new Skype for iPhone App allows iPhone, iPad and iPod touch owners to make and/or receive free* Skype video calls for the first time. Users can now see their family, friends and colleagues around the world while talking to them. With approximately 25 million concurrent users logged into Skype at any given time**, the new Skype for iPhone makes it easier than ever to share moments wherever you are.Video calling significantly enhances the user experience of Skype for iPhone, which is one of the top five free iPhone apps in 2010 according to Apple. Now, users can make and receive free Skype-to-Skype calls, call mobiles and landlines around the world at very low rates, and now share more moments together with video on Skype for iPhone.
“With video calling representing approximately 40% of all Skype-to-Skype minutes for the first six months of 2010, our users have been eager to get Skype video calling on their mobile phones,” said Neil Stevens, general manager of Skype’s consumer business. “By bringing video to mainstream users at their home or work via their desktops, on the go with their mobiles, or into their living room via their TV, Skype has made it possible for millions of people to share video moments wherever they are.”

Internet Radio – How It’s Changing The World Of Online Music
With internet radioradio, there are literally thousands of choices. The possibilities are endless!
And, unlike other forms of online music, internet radio is totally free. There are no subscriptions to pay, no hidden fees to surprise you, no email lists to join, no expensive equipment to buy, and nothing to download. Instead, you get to listen to music online without any hassles. Other online music services do not make the same promises.
As an added benefit, internet radio offers music at a better quality than traditional radio. When you listen to music online, you do not have to worry about getting your antenna in just the right spot, or hope that there will not be any interference in the air. Since the music travels through the world wide web instead of over the air, your music will be crisper and clearer, without any static or buzzing to distract you.
Plus, with internet radio, you can drown out the silence at work, and you do not even have to worry about bringing your own stereo or expensive mp3 player to the office.
Or, you can use internet radio to listen to music that is not available in your area. For example, if you just moved from Miami to Chicago, there are probably not a lot of Salsa radio stations to listen to in the Windy City. But, with internet radio, you can feel comfortable by picking a Salsa station that reminds you of home.
Thanks to internet radio, you can listen to any genre you can imagine!
Why People Download You Tube Videos?
You tube was brought live to web in February 2005. It was founded by three ex-Paypal employees. On its conception, the site would broadcast homemade and amateur videos.
The site didn’t take long before it became successful. In about a year, it became a web sensation.
And, after half of a decade, surfers and users are still in craze about the site. Through you tube views software, you can already monitor how one video attracts the world.
From how it was, there have been notable changes on the site. Not only on the people posting videos as well as what users can do. Nowadays, aside from watching them, you can also download you tube videos.
At present, the site is also use to post videos of popular artists and not just amateurs. The increasing views on youtube are also due to the numbers of latest music videos posted on the site. This kind of thing makes people check the site a lot of times.
It is also quite common now to see advertising and other interactive marketing on the site. You could say that even marketers take advantage of the site and try to get free you tube views.
Interestingly, people browse you tube but not just to listen. In fact they search the site to download the video that they like. Download? Yes, you can easily download your favorite music video via YouTube.
You must be wondering why they have to download videos if they can watch it for free. There are varying reasons why people do what they do. This includes downloading videos that you can watch for free.
One good reason why people download you tube is because it’s free. You can watch videos as you want without having to spend a single cent. At the same time, you can post tons and tons of videos without paying.
Another reason why people use this site to download videos is because it is always updated. With you tube, you can be sure to find the latest music video of the artist you want. This is something that you can’t expect with other download sites.
Finally, people get videos from you tube because they can easily convert them into different format. The free video downloader of the site is packed with converter. That means you can get videos and convert them into MP3, AVi and anything that will suit your needs.

Introduction of 4G handsets
Verizon lit up its 4G network in 38 markets and in more than 60 airports on December 5 and plans to blanket the entire country over the next 18 months. Though Verizon didn't reveal any LTE handsets at the time--just two USB modems--the carrier did say that it would talk about "consumer-oriented smartphones" at CES 2011.
Indeed, Verizon CEO Ivan Seidenberg is scheduled to give the opening keynote on January 6, and the carrier is planning a press conference for later that day. We're sure that we'll hear about new handsets at both events, though details are few at this point. Images of an LTE smartphone from LG have leaked onto the Web already, but we expect three or four additional devices from Big Red.
In addition to Verizon, T-Mobile also will be holding an event at CES, where it plans to talk more about its HSPA+ network and upcoming 4G products. Yes, there's debate (mostly in the tech world) about whether T-Mobile should even call its HSPA+ network 4G, since it's more of an evolution of its 3G network, but the carrier is running with it and has launched a not-so-subtle ad campaign and several accompanying products, including the T-Mobile MyTouch 4G and the T-Mobile G2.

How And Why To Back Up Your Computer
First of all, imagine all the important data that is on your computer. Many people keep very important financial information on their computer that would put them in severe danger if it were lost. Others store important digital photos on their computer, and would be devastated if they were all lost. Still others have spent much time and effort creating video projects, that only exist on their hard drive. No matter what you have stored on your own hard drive, it is most definitely worth protecting.
A second reason that you need to back your hard drive consistently is that there is a real danger of something happening. Sure, you don't want your system to crash, and erase everything, but sadly, it does happen. The market place is filled with software and hardware designed to recover lost data. This is an indication of the real danger that exists.
So hopefully you are convinced that a regular computer backup is something that you should be doing on a regular basis. The question now is how do you go about doing that? The easiest solution is to buy an external hard drive. These are relatively inexpensive, and provide a simple solution. Many times you can get an external hard drive that is double or even triple the size of your internal hard drive. These can easily be set up to back up your data at intervals you select. That can provide a quick recovery should anything happen.
Another option is to sign up with an online backup service. These will back up your data just as consistently as with an external hard drive. The only difference is that you will be uploading your data to a server somewhere. The two main drawbacks of this method is that it requires a monthly fee, and you aren't in complete control of your data. If you need it in a pinch, you'll need to find a relatively quick Internet connection, or you'll be out of luck.
As you consider this information, I hope you realize of consistent backups to your computer. You know how important it is, you know the horrors of what can happen if you don't, and disaster strikes. And most importantly, you exactly how to do it. All you need to do now is make a decision.
Laser Printers - Better & Faster With Canon
Faster prints - less hassle
Laser printers give you some of the most detailed prints you can get, and now, owning one is more affordable than ever. Today, they're even speedier and more cost efficient - Canon's latest range of LASER SHOT printers, including the innovative LBP6200dn, reaches print speeds of up to 25-26 pages per minute.
Canon's latest range of LASER SHOT and imageCLASS printers includes some of the most advanced printer technology for even more cost and time efficient printing. So they not only give you faster prints, but they save you on maintenance time as well. Consider these time saving advantages:
*Quick warm up - Canon's latest LASER SHOT heat up quickly so there's less warm up time which means you can start your print jobs right away.
*Canon's Advanced Printing Technology (CAPT) - by working with your computer processor, you can process large amounts of data quickly, so there's no need to wait for the data to be sent to the additional printer memory. This means large data files and images can be processed quicker and more efficiently.
*All-in-one cartridges - for most standard laser printers, there are toner cartridges as well as a drum and a separate waste container that will need to be replaced individually. This means you'll need to stock up on all three consumables. With Canon's new all-in-one cartridge system, you can now replace everything in one simple step.
Save time and money
Time and time again, Canon has demonstrated its commitment to saving users time and money. A commissioned study by Enex TestLab compared Canon's LASER SHOT against the competition. Canon's LBP7200Cdn colour models demonstrated a lower average toner cost per colour page and faster speeds than similar models from other brands. At just $0.76 toner cost per page - this was 19 cents lower than other models.
If you're after great home or office printers that save time and money, Canon's extensive range of laser and multifunction printers have got you covered. Imagine what you could be doing with the extra time you'll save!
Full results of the Enex TestLab are available from Hill & Knowlton - email canon@hillandknowlton.com.au
Three Reasons Why You Should Have A Laptop Computer

If you happen to take a look around when you head out to the mall or the coffee shop, you might notice that more and more people these days are using personal computers. From doing work outside of the office, to planning their next vacation, it seems that people are increasingly finding new and productive ways to use their PCs. In this article I'll discuss the major reasons you should be using the most popular kind of computer today.
Despite the quickly growing popularity of hand held devices with increasingly complicated functions, the laptop computer is still the machine of choice for those who want to get some serious work done. Sure, smart phones, net pads and think pads are becoming more popular, but laptops are still preferred, according to sales statistics, and in this article you'll learn a couple reasons why. There's never been a better time than now to buy a new laptop.
The most obvious reason, of course, is that they are incredibly portable. You can take them anywhere. And because every year they seem to be getting not only more powerful, but smaller and lighter, you can virtually slip them in your bag and forget your carrying it around. If you go out in public today, you can see people using their machines everywhere you go, from coffee shops to airports to even restaurants and bars.
Another powerful reason to own one is that more and more places are offering free wireless Internet connectivity. Several cities have instituted city wide availability, and most public libraries offer free wireless connection to the Internet. And every major coffee shop chain has some kind of service, usually for a small fee, where you can connect for an unlimited time. And several recently released smart phones carry with them WiFi connectivity, allowing you to go online wherever you are.
Additionally, the prices of these computers have dropped significantly in recent years. It wasn't too long ago where you'd expect to pay one or two thousand dollars for a decent machine. Now, most machines with sufficient operating power can be bought for four or five hundred dollars. Of course, if you're doing memory or processor intense work such as video editing, you can expect to pay a little bit more.
No matter what you imagine yourself doing on your new laptop, now is the best time to get one. They are lighter and more compact than ever, you can hook up to the Internet pretty much anywhere you go, and they are cheaper than they've ever been. Once you start using it on a regular basis, you'll wonder how you ever got along without it.

Applications
Android will ship with a set of core applications including an email client, SMS program, calendar, maps, browser, contacts, and others. All applications are written using the Java programming language.Application Framework
By providing an open development platform, Android offers developers the ability to build extremely rich and innovative applications. Developers are free to take advantage of the device hardware, access location information, run background services, set alarms, add notifications to the status bar, and much, much more.Developers have full access to the same framework APIs used by the core applications. The application architecture is designed to simplify the reuse of components; any application can publish its capabilities and any other application may then make use of those capabilities (subject to security constraints enforced by the framework). This same mechanism allows components to be replaced by the user.
Underlying all applications is a set of services and systems, including:
- A rich and extensible set of Views that can be used to build an application, including lists, grids, text boxes, buttons, and even an embeddable web browser
- Content Providers that enable applications to access data from other applications (such as Contacts), or to share their own data
- A Resource Manager, providing access to non-code resources such as localized strings, graphics, and layout files
- A
Notification Managerthat enables all applications to display custom alerts in the status bar - An
Activity Managerthat manages the lifecycle of applications and provides a common navigation backstack
Libraries
Android includes a set of C/C++ libraries used by various components of the Android system. These capabilities are exposed to developers through the Android application framework. Some of the core libraries are listed below:- System C library - a BSD-derived implementation of the standard C system library (libc), tuned for embedded Linux-based devices
- Media Libraries - based on PacketVideo's OpenCORE; the libraries support playback and recording of many popular audio and video formats, as well as static image files, including MPEG4, H.264, MP3, AAC, AMR, JPG, and PNG
- Surface Manager - manages access to the display subsystem and seamlessly composites 2D and 3D graphic layers from multiple applications
- LibWebCore - a modern web browser engine which powers both the Android browser and an embeddable web view
- SGL - the underlying 2D graphics engine
- 3D libraries - an implementation based on OpenGL ES 1.0 APIs; the libraries use either hardware 3D acceleration (where available) or the included, highly optimized 3D software rasterizer
- FreeType - bitmap and vector font rendering
- SQLite - a powerful and lightweight relational database engine available to all applications
Android Runtime
Android includes a set of core libraries that provides most of the functionality available in the core libraries of the Java programming language.Every Android application runs in its own process, with its own instance of the Dalvik virtual machine. Dalvik has been written so that a device can run multiple VMs efficiently. The Dalvik VM executes files in the Dalvik Executable (.dex) format which is optimized for minimal memory footprint. The VM is register-based, and runs classes compiled by a Java language compiler that have been transformed into the .dex format by the included "dx" tool.
The Dalvik VM relies on the Linux kernel for underlying functionality such as threading and low-level memory management.
Linux Kernel
Android relies on Linux version 2.6 for core system services such as security, memory management, process management, network stack, and driver model. The kernel also acts as an abstraction layer between the hardware and the rest of the software stack.Portable Document Format ....
Adobe soon started distributing its Acrobat Reader (now Adobe Reader) program at no cost, and continued supporting the original PDF, which eventually became the de facto standard for printable documents on the web (a standard web document).
The PDF specification has changed several times and continues to evolve as new versions of Adobe Acrobat are released. There have been nine versions of PDF with corresponding Acrobat releases:
(1993) – PDF 1.0 / Acrobat 1.0

(1994) – PDF 1.1 / Acrobat 2.0
(1996) – PDF 1.2 / Acrobat 3.0
(1999) – PDF 1.3 / Acrobat 4.0
(2001) – PDF 1.4 / Acrobat 5.0
(2003) – PDF 1.5 / Acrobat 6.0
(2005) – PDF 1.6 / Acrobat 7.0
(2006) – PDF 1.7 / Acrobat 8.0
(2008) – PDF 1.7, Adobe Extension Level 3 / Acrobat 9.0
(2009) – PDF 1.7, Adobe Extension Level 5 / Acrobat 9.1
Windows Installer (PHP 5.1.0 and earlier)
Note:
While the Windows installer is an easy way to make PHP work, it is restricted in many aspects as, for example, the automatic setup of extensions is not supported. Use of the installer isn't the preferred method for installing PHP.
Warning
Be aware, that this setup of PHP is not secure. If you would like to have a secure PHP setup, you'd better go on the manual way, and set every option carefully. This automatically working setup gives you an instantly working PHP installation, but it is not meant to be used on online servers.
PHP 5.3.3 Released!
The PHP development team would like to announce the immediate availability of PHP 5.3.3. This release focuses on improving the stability and security of the PHP 5.3.x branch with over 100 bug fixes, some of which are security related. All users are encouraged to upgrade to this release.
Backwards incompatible change:
- Methods with the same name as the last element of a namespaced class name will no longer be treated as constructor. This change doesn't affect non-namespaced classes.
namespace Foo;
class Bar {
public function Bar() {
// treated as constructor in PHP 5.3.0-5.3.2
// treated as regular method in PHP 5.3.3
}
}
?>
There is no impact on migration from 5.2.x because namespaces were only introduced in PHP 5.3.
- Rewrote var_export() to use smart_str rather than output buffering, prevents data disclosure if a fatal error occurs (CVE-2010-2531).
- Fixed a possible resource destruction issues in shm_put_var().
