Mumbai MCA students await results for 4 months

Tuesday, April 12, 2011

MUMBAI: Thousands of masters in computer application (MCA) students have been waiting for their results since the past four months. The university of Mumbai has not been able to release the results due to staff shortage.

The situation is the same for final-year engineering students. Even as the last semester exam is fast approaching, they are still awaiting their seventh semester results.

The first, second, third, fourth and sixth semester exams for the MCA course concluded in late 2010 or by mid-January this year, but students have still not received their results. "It's been 121 days since my exam ended. The next exam is to take place in May but I have no clue whether I have cleared it or no," said a second semester MCA student.

The same is the case with fourth semester results. In case of the first, third and sixth semester, 89 days have gone by. "The university has been very lackadaisical," said former senate member Vaibhav Narwade.

Controller of examinations Vilas Shinde said MCA rules state that his department needs to declare results of the first semester first. "But now I will be declaring all the results within two days. The results-processing team and the pre-exam staff are the same. With so many exams, there has been a slight delay in declaring some results."
