At the on-going Consumer Electronics Show 2011 in Las Vegas, Dell has formally announced the Venue handset running Google Android 2.2 Froyo. Venue flaunts a 4.1-inch AMOLED touchscreen display with Gorilla Glass and will pack a 1GHz Qualcomm processor. Just like other handset makers, Dell hasn't announced the pricing and availability of the handset. Do note that this handset would be sold unlocked directly from Dell.
Venue offers an 8 megapixel camera with LED Flash, autofocus, 4x Digital Zoom, and geo-tagging. The back panel camera will let you record 720p HD video with the 8 megapixel camera but not 1080p HD, since the 1GHz Scorpion core doesn't support it. Other features include Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, Wi-Fi, ActiveSync, Microsoft Exchange support, Web 2.0 HTML supporting mobile browser, microUSB port and 3.5mm audio port. It's not clear whether this phone will offer Stereo FM Radio. Packing 1400mAh battery, we can expect a decent battery life from this Android device.
Dell hasn't announced the price and availability of the Venue, but we believe it will be made available in the first quarter of 2011 in the US at least.
