JNU CBEE Exam Details
JNU CBEE Exam which stands for JNU Combined Biotechnology Entrance Exam is conducted by Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, one of the most reputed universities in India, for admission into various postgraduate programs in Biotechnology, offered at participating colleges/institutes and universities of the Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi.

Eligibility
MSc (Biotechnology)
The candidates must have a bachelor?s degree from a recognized university, with a minimum of 55% marks in any of the following disciplines – Physical, Biological, Agricultural, Veterinary and Fishery Sciences, Pharmacy, Engineering/Technology, BSc (Physician Assistant Course – 4 years) or Medicine (MBBS)/ Dental (BDS).
MSc (Agriculture)/M Veterinary Science)
The applicants need to have a bachelor?s degree from a recognized university, with a minimum of 55% marks in any of the following disciplines – Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry (BVSc & AH), Agriculture, Horticulture or Forestry, Dairy Technology, B Tech (Biotech), B Tech (Horticulture) or Sericulture, according to the requirement of the participating university.
MTech (Biotechnology)
The candidates must have a BE/BTech degree from a recognized university, with a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate in any of these disciplines – Chemical Engineering/Biochemical Engineering, Industrial Biotechnology, Leather Technology, Biotechnology, Biomedical Engineering, B Pharma, Chemical Technology, or MSc. in Biotechnology, Life Sciences, Botany, Zoology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Genetics, Biophysics, Microbial Genetics and Bioinformatics. (Also BTech/ BE in Electrochemistry, Bioengineering and MSc in Chemistry & Physics in case of Anna University and MSc in Bioengineering in case of West Bengal University of Technology)
As for the reservation of seats under different categories, it is 15% for SC, 7% for ST and 3% for physically handicapped.
Examination Pattern
JNU CBEE Entrance Test Paper is divided into two parts for different programs. There is negative marking for each wrong answer attempted by a candidate.
MSc Biotechnology
Part A
It is comprised of multiple choice type questions at the level of 10+2 in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
Part B
It consists of multiple-choice questions of bachelor’s level in the subjects of Physics, Biology (e.g., Botany, Zoology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Genetics and Molecular Biology) and Chemistry.
MSc Agri Biotechnology
Part A
It comprises of multiple choice questions at 10+2 level in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
Part B
It is comprised of multiple-choice questions of bachelor’s level in the subjects of Physics, Biology (e.g., Botany, Zoology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Genetics and Molecular Biology) and Chemistry.
MTech Biotechnology
It is comprised of two groups, Technology and Life Sciences, with different combination of subjects:
Technology
Part A
Questions are based on Basic Engineering and Technology at under graduate level
Part B
Questions are based on Physics/Chemistry/Mathematics at under graduate level
Part C
Questions are based on Fundamental Life Sciences and Informatics at 10+2 level.
Life Sciences
Part A
Questions are based on Life Sciences (Biochemistry, Molecular Biology & Immunology) at post graduate level.
Part B
Questions are based on Physics/Chemistry at undergraduate level
Part C
Questions are based on Mathematics, Computer & Information Sciences at 10+2 level.
Syllabus
Candidates appearing at the JNU CBEE have to prepare in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Computer & Information Sciences, and Biology (Botany, Zoology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Genetics and Molecular Biology). Candidates wishing for admission in M Tech (Biotechnology) have also to prepare in Mathematics. Candidates prepare in a different combination of subjects, according to their preferred field.
