AIEEE All India Engineering Entrance Examination Exam Details

Thursday, January 13, 2011

All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE) is an all-India common entrance examination conducted by CBSE, for admission to Engineering and Architecture/Planning programmes at the undergraduate level. National Institutes of Technology (NIT), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIIT), Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management (IIITM), Deemed Universities, Central Government Funded Institutions and other State Institutes are participating in AIEEE.
Courses
Candidates qualifying AIEEE can seek admission into the following programmes at the undergraduate level, offered by various national and state level institutes.
  • Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.)
  • Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.)
  • Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch.)
  • Bachelor of Planning (B. Planning)
Eligibility
To appear AIEEE candidates require to satisfy all eligibility criteria as given below.
  • The minimum academic qualification for admission through AIEEE is a pass in the final examination of 10+2 system or its equivalent.
  • Those candidates who have already passed or who are going to appear the final exam of 10+2 system are only eligible to appear AIEEE.
  • The number of attempts available to all candidates at AIEEE shall be limited to three in consecutive years.
  • For admission to B.E/B.Tech programmes candidates must have Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects in 10+2 level.
  • Candidates seeking admission to B.Arch/B.Planning programmes must have Mathematics as compulsory subject at 10+2 level, with 50% marks in aggregate.
  • The maximum age limit for a candidate to appear AIEEE is 25 years. However, in case of SC/ST/PH upper age limit is relaxed by 5 years.
Examination Pattern
  • The AIEEE entrance test is a single-stage examination. The scheme of exam consists of two papers of three-hour duration each. Both the papers have objective type questions with multiple-choices.
  • First paper is designed for students seeking admission to B.E/B.Tech programmes. The paper consists of three Parts of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics of equal weightage.
  • Second paper is meant for those seeking admission to B. Arch/B. Planning programmes. It consists three parts of Mathematics, Aptitude Test and Drawing.
  • There is negative marking for wrong answers.
  • All objective type questions are required to be answered on specially designed machine gradable answer sheets and to be marked using ball point pen (black/blue) only.
